I've lived in Mount Vernon for almost eight years and it's alright. The good and bad weigh out. The goods being the festivals and events are amazing. I've gone to the Dan Emmett Festival for the past five years due to being in the band and the First Fridays are pretty amazing with the different things going on. Some of the bad things though is that there are some sketchy things and at times it feels unsafe, but that is only from time to time. The schools are okay, some are better than others. The sports they have for kids and adolescents are pretty nice. There are a lot of friendly people and plenty of places to work. Also there are a lot of places to go if you want to enjoy some scenery.
